93 years ago today my Irish great grandfather johny died in france~a short time before the end of world war one.
it seemed fitting that today Ireland also won their match in the rugby world cup!

i have been doing a bit of crochet today as the pains in my hands and arms have let up a little...
here is the gorgeous piece of flint i found over the forest...
i admit i have brought it home with me...we were walking up by the assorted barrows about a mile from home and i was following a small chalky path.
in this particular area there are hills that, if you look closely enough, have a very distinct look of being boundary ditches for settlements.
as most of you know some of my ancestral roots go back here many hundreds of years and i like to think they go back beyond recorded history.
when i found this i was thinking of my ancestors and how rooted i am to this area when i saw it right at my feet~this long, almost spearhead shaped palm size flint, very distinctive from its neighbours.
almost as if it jumped in my path...
