in fact its bitterly cold~the coldest its been to date due to the blast of Arctic air rushing down over our small country.
we wrapped up warm this morning and took flynt half a mile further on from his usual walk-deep into the woods of the Ornamental Drive, past Rhinefield House~built as it is seen now in the 1880's, but hunting lodges have been there since 1097.
the area is planted with Douglas Fir and Giant Redwoods from the Victorian era and is spectacular.
there was another solitary vehicle parked up but the owners were nowhere to be seen.
we followed a small track away from the deserted small road and were soon surrounded by tree's.
suddenly looking ahead from our place on a slight rise we saw a deer step out of the woods and onto the path~then another, then another.
a small herd crossed our path with one staying on the path as if watching over those crossing.
we followed a curving path that would lead us naturally back to the car park and the whole time we were watched by various deer who could be seen deep among the tree's~and when the snow started to fall ever so lightly it turned into the most perfect walk we could have imagined.
