Klein Reid

Klein Reid was one of a handful of things I sold in my store that wasn't bedding.  If you own any, you will know what I mean when I say it is very, very special.
I LOVED it and how it truly took my store "up a notch."  The beauty of the vases and lamps all together on the shelves was stunning.

New York City design studio KleinReid stands at the forefront of porcelain design. The firm's founders James Klein and David Reid began collaborating in 1993, creating refined vases, lighting and serveware – and more recently soft goods, jewelry and limited edition prints. Their influential atelier is renown for its elegant forms, dense, translucent porcelain, artisanal glazes, and fine “from scratch” craftsmanship.

 David says:
Well hello there!

I'm far from eloquent, but a little about me: I love rollercoasters, music, pinball, all sorts of culture, NYC and being in water. I'm drawn to old things more than new. I believe art and travel are incredibly important, maybe the most important after family and friends. I'm moody. How's that?

James says:

Wear and use describe the life and of an object. I love the threadbare arms of a wingback, and the burnished, soft toes of marble statuary. I love the wear of stone steps, faded mirrors, tarnished brass, and even broken plates. Wear tracks familiar and comforting patterns, like the leather handle of my old canvas bag that, by now, fits my hand perfectly; and the nearby shiny brass snap that my thumb seems to enjoy testing. Dare I say that without wear life would be stiff and new and boring.

Designing with Eva Zeisel:

[Through] successive meetings and healthy doses of champagne and chocolate, we created the original six vessels in the "Eva" collection. It premiered in August of that year and was an instant hit. In the following years we added serving pieces, mouth-blown crystal and limited-edition prints to accompany the vases. The collection has remained popular in the ten years it has been in production and its pieces are in the collections of the White House and many museums.

We treasure our work and friendship with Eva. Through her we have learned more about design than we could learn in any school. She has taught us to design with honesty and love and without limitations.

Anyway, I was so excited to see that James and David's NYC home is featured in Architectural Digest (Spain).

Have a fantastic weekend!

Forgive Me, Blogger

I have been a horrible blogger and blog friend/commenter.

It's not you, it's me.

Please forgive me.

I have been struggling with getting the right paint color for a client's master bedroom.  The blue/grey boards I painted and took out there were *wrong*.

Now I'm hoping a nice, soft off-white will work.  SOOOO many choices, so I'm hoping one of the following will work:

Bavarian Cream
Timid White
Pink Damask

Timid White and Albescent are favorites of Erin's paint king, Sanders.

Any thoughts?  Suggestions??

Why can't we all just have yummy stone walls and call it a day?

Don't Forget!

Don't forget to comment HERE
for a chance to win this fabulous Shabby Apple dress.

The winner will be chosen on Halloween.

Sometimes it last in love but sometimes it hurts instead
Adele - Someone Like you

Well what can I say? I think I'm in some way
a little better, now I know more things that
maybe if I wouldn't enter to my own world I
think I'd never known them & everything
happens for a reason, that's not new, & sometimes
you just need to trust your destiny & see what
happens(: does it hurt? yes & you have no idea how
it hurts, am I strong? I want to think that Iam. So
what ever tomorrow brings I'll be there...
Smile for all them haters ;)

yeah I'm a selfish bastard but at least I'm not alone...
30 Seconds To Mars - Was it a dream?

Too Tired To Type

I don't even know where to start -- we had a whirlwind one day excursion to High Point and these dogs are barkin'.

It was wonderful to see and meet so many great vendors.  What stood out?......

Packing My Bags And Loving This Color

We're off!  After closing time this evening, Karen and I are headed down to High Point for Market!  Can't wait to see all the latest and greatest.  Will you be there?

I am loving this new full color spectrum 'color stories' paint from Benjamin Moore.  I think I'd like to get a sample of this color.  It looks as warm as a blue/gray can get and it will set the mood just right.  What would you pair with it -- specific ceiling color to make a stellar combo??

Benjamin Moore Vol. 4 Violet Twilight

Next Great Artist?

Are you watching this???

Some of these works of art are so out there and weird....
but I guess that's the point.
Let the eliminations continue!

You never realize how much you love a person
but when that person decide to go away of your

It hurts, obviously it does & a lot, I'm human, I do
love & I do have feelings too, sometimes people
don't understand that. You cannot forget what you
had with a person from night to morning, you cannot
tell your heart to not feel what you're feeling anymore
you just can't do that, because that's not the way the
heart & the feelings function.

You're the only person I cared about, I love like I've
never loved someone & I still do both, I miss you but
I can't do anything but respect your decision & to
understand that you don't want to stay by my side.
I'm sixteen & I think you're the love of my life, so what?
people like you are impposible to forget, with you I
understood what love was, you made me a fool for you
& in some way or another, you destroyed all the coldest
part of me becoming it adictive to you. I don't beg, I never
did & I'll not do it with you, as much as I love you I
have pride & I respect your decision. I know that you'll
never gonna see this, & it's better to leave it that way...

Sorry but I needed to take out all the things that was
in my head.

Dark and Moody

These beautiful photos strike a chord with me.  My grandmother had a large still life painting hanging in her dining room that I remember being dark and moody, and reminiscent of these photos.  I seem to remember it having dark purple grapes overflowing out of a chalice....
(I'll have to ask my mom whatever happened to that painting.)
